Madison, WI Regional 11/10/2012


Hi everyone, this is PK here.  This past weekend (11/10/2012) I went to Madison, WI. for Regional.  There were 128 players. 7 rounds of swiss with top 16 invite.  I finished building my Atlantean Mermail deck on Friday night.  Did not have anytime to test play it.  

Here is my matchup:

Round 1
Atlantean Mermail (me) Vs. Gladiator Beast (Won) 1-0
This match was pretty easy, all I did was make sure he has no monster(s) on the field.  

Round 2
Atlantean Mermail (me) Vs. Inzektor (Won) 2-0
Game 1: He Foolish Burial Hornet to the grave in turn 1.  After that he just control everything.
Game 2: He sided in D-Fissure.  Which backfire on him.  All his Mystic Tomato were getting remove from play and not getting any of their effect.
Game 3:  Somehow he had DAD and Ladybug equipped with Giga-Mantis.  Our LP was 1800(Me)-1200(Him).  I summoned Diva and get Infantry.  Overlay into Gachi Gachi and set my Dust Tornado. During his turn, all he has was a Dragonfly in the grave.  He did not want to use DAD's Effect.  He enter battle phase and attack Gachi Gachi with Ladybug, I chained Dust Tornado to destroy his Mantis.  His attack went through and took 1700 Damage.

Round 3 
Atlantean Mermail (me) Vs. Six Samurai (Won) 2-1
Game 1: He started and flooded the field with Six Sam.  I have no outs.
Game 2: He got out Naturia Barkion and Soul Drain.  Lock me for a while.  When I destroy Barkion it was too late.

Round 4 
Atlantean Mermail (me) Vs. Rabbit/Nimble (Won) 3-1
Game 1: He lock me with Laggias and Grandmole.
Game 2: My deck went off can control the field.
Game 3: I drop gorz and control the field.

Round 5
Atlantean Mermail (me) Vs. Spellbook (Won) 4-1
Game 1:  I don't remember how I lost.
Game 2: My field was full of Mermail. He could not come back.
Game 3. Started out with Abyss-Sphere and control the whole game after that.

Round 6
Atlantean Mermail  (me) Vs. Wind-Up (Draw) 5-1
Game 1: I set Abysslinde, he attacked with Wind-up Rabbit.  Triggered Abysslinde effect to special summon Abysspike.  Abysspike discarded Infantry from hand to add Genex Undine.  Infantry's effect destroyed Wind-Up Rabbit.  Rabbit can't use his effect because it was in the damage step.  After that I controlled the field.
Game 2: I sided in Gozen Match and Maxx "C".  I end up starting both of those in hand.  And he went for Magician and Shark.  Which I drop the Maxx "C" draw a couple of cards, then activate Gozen Match to control the field.  He has no out.

Round 7
Atlantean Mermail  (me) Vs. E-Hero (Won) 5-2
Game 1: Abyss-Sphere help me control the field.
Game 2: He has no monster with two back row.  I summoned Abysslinde and he play bottomless, I chained Torrential Tribute.  He called the judge and the judge ruled that Abysslinde miss timing due to bottomless trying to resolve.  I told the judge that Abysslinde don't miss timing and she start her own chain.  But the judge said she is a optional effect so she miss timing.  After that I lost cards advantage and lost.  If the effect would of gone through I would of won.
Game 3:  He drew into all his trap and we both end up top decking.  I know I have no out top decking with E-Hero.  So he took it.  


Could of Top 8 if the judge did not make the wrong ruling.  But, I top 16 and received an invite.  I took this deck to test play and it was a pretty great deck.   I noticed I made a lot of misplay and I noticed that this deck can recover from those misplay.  I also did a lot of misplay on siding certain cards in and out too.  It was a great learning experience and I played against so many different decks.  Here is the deck list:
